Care trees grow in many places of residence in our country, as a rule it is a deciduous tree such as chestnut, linden, maple, elm or ash stately trees that have often stood there for many years, even for centuries.
In the 1921 edition of Nordic Family Book, the function of this tree is explained: a deciduous tree growing on the farm plot, usually some old linden, ash or elm that was believed to form a fence for the prosperity and well-being of the family that lived on the farm. Today, the owner cares about the care tree for the sake of tradition, because the tree represents a memory from the farm's history or simply because it is beautiful and stately where it is clearly visible. But these solitary, mighty trees have long been cared for because they represented mental and physical well-being for those who inhabited the estate. From time immemorial, care trees have always been respected and guarded. Eva and Dag have traveled around Sweden and collected material and photographed many of these fantastic trees.
