Swifts find it difficult to find suitable nesting sites in our increasingly modern society with tightly closed buildings.
Remedy this by setting up a nest box. But keep in mind that they are picky, it can take several years before they claim a nest. This nest box is made from Swedish wood in a small village in eastern Öland. The nest will last for many years. This tower glider cabin is made with drawings from Stockholm's tower glider project. The opening is 70x30 mm. The nest is mounted high so that the tower glider has free access to the nest, which is at least 4 meters above the ground, but the higher it is placed, the greater the chance of nesting. Make sure there are no obstacles whatsoever in front of the nest, so they can easily fly in. The nest is preferably placed under the eaves of the house or high up in a tree. Several nests can be mounted close to each other. This box was attached to the wall via two pre-drilled holes above the ceiling.
