TSN 663M XD Prominar is a new - yet old encounter, made in the 660-series that was launched by Kowa in 2001. With its lightweight, polycarbonate housing it truly combines the small format with the quality optics that now has been upgraded to 20% better light transmission! This makes it really efficient combined with the 20-60x zoom eyepiece, as the higher magnification (45-60x) usually delivers dramatically darker views - but in this case stays light all the way.
The housing of the unit matches its precursors - but has now changed color to the moss-green that Kowa has become especially known for. The red ring around the objective lens with the text Prominar, tells us that this spotting scope now holds the same top-class as Kowa’s very best XD-glass optics in the TSN- 770-series, delivering a visibly improved sharpness and contrast yet in a format that unlike the 770 works mainly for daytime observations. The model is of course nitrogen filled and stands everything from dirt to water and condensation.
